Join an exciting adventure in model railroading in a hands-on program for kids at Brooks Academy Museum. Train fans from six to 12 will have the chance to operate an extensive working HO-scale model layout of the Hyannis to Orleans line as engineers, brakemen, conductors, and dispatchers during the two-hour program. The 17x20 layout was created by the Nauset Model Railroad Club in conjunction with the Harwich Historical Society and depicts how trains opened up the lower Cape for business, tourists, and improved everyday life. Kids will be supervised by a railroad expert while working the rails and exploring history, geography, business, and problem solving. Registration is suggested as space is limited.
