Join the CCCO in a program featuring William Grant Still, who in 1931 became the first African American composer to have a symphony debuted by a major American orchestra. His success followed when in 1936 he became the first African American to conduct a major orchestra, when he led the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl.
Clarinetist David Dziardziel will perform Copland's majestic Clarinet Concerto, and the CCCO concludes the concert with Nielsen's Little Suite for Strings.
